On June 24, 2022 the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. As a result, a 1931 law making abortion illegal in Michigan could go back into effect. It would threaten doctors who provide abortion services with prison for up to fifteen years.
An amendment to the state constitution will be on the ballot in November. If it passes, it will effectively reinstate Roe v. Wade by providing that in Michigan, everyone has the right to end a pregnancy pre-viability and no one can go to prison for providing abortion access.
Fems for Dems will work to mobilize Michigan women, turn out the vote, and get good information into the hands of voters to ensure that abortion remains legal in Michigan!
